The Fifth House: Your Sector of Pleasure

Welcome to Lily’s house, and this month is about my favorite house. I am an Aquarius, and intellect is a strong point of
Aquarians. We are nimbly able to partake of our opposite sign’s qualities in symbol form, but we don’t feel things the way
a Leo can. There can be no equal to the force of Leo, the Lion and the Sun power which the fifth house represents. Only
by participating in the actual activities of pleasure and creativity would I really be able to live the Leo qualities, not just
pay abstract homage to “the force” of passion residing in the heart of the earth. The Lion constellation was overhead
10,000 years ago in a different way, showing a different age, long past. But the gifts of chivalry and courage, generative
power and nobility that the Lion symbolizes are equally powerful for ALL signs. Go in and see what’s there.
When you enter your own “playhouse,” what biases do you see? Your own biases, of course! I am an Aquarius, so I take
a distant, Saturnine’s view to the concept of pleasure, but like all earth children, I rush towards what my heart says is fun.
Your fifth house describes the particular slant that you take on fun. Your fifth house will tell in excruciating detail what

Leo on the 5th: (You have an Aries rising.) You have traditional views on family life, children and kinds of pleasure. You
will orient around the traditional split between good and bad; that is, selfish and unselfish pleasures. You keep the
unselfish pleasures manageable by keeping the selfish ones secret, and this insures that Leo can continue to replenish
the race. Pleasure is direct and intense, no matter if the passion is baseball or erotic massage.
Virgo on the 5th: (You have a Taurus rising.) Let loose and buy some geek toy or gadget, then, take off on a lonely
walking trip where you will enjoy all the gadgets and testing you mettle in the outdoors world of poles, ropes, tires, etc.
Virgo 5th house enjoys the precision and self contesting that is the analytical way of fun. An Aries or Sagittarius would
have already left for the outdoors, and Virgo 5th house would still be inside oiling up the equipment. “Thinking” and “fun”
don’t really go together, but for some, thinking is fun.
Libra on the 5th: (You have a Gemini rising.) You see a wonderful possibility of elegance in your pleasure, or at least
you include the values of aesthetics in you fantasies. You are the consummate entertainer, and you perform according to
what is needed. Your qualities of grace and adaptability are a source of your popularity, because you share the best that
you have with lovers and friends. Your beef is that you do not feel appreciated.
Scorpio on the 5th: (You have a Cancer rising.) Clearly, secret pleasures are preferred, and the pressure of
secretiveness and concealment will increase pleasure. What is fun contains something forbidden, or at least hides from
others. If your mate has a Scorpio 5th house, you can really light the fires by offering to participate in their world of
passion, but take precautions. A fifth house like this makes it easy to start a family. Mystery novels, research on
Halloween, and passionate art and life expression are a hallmark of the pleasure scorpions.
Sagittarius on the 5th: (You have a Leo rising.) Here might be found an adventurous type, someone who is willing to
take risks. The outdoors frequently calls this individual to challenge him, and he loves equipment just like the Virgo 5th
house. He is equally a thinker in outdoor, sports and military challenges. People enjoy seeing this individual excel in their
performance, till the stars are achieved by some, who actually fly or become astronauts. Lesser activities than flying in
space, but equally attractive to this limitless dreamer, would be a giant outdoor concert or sports event. Did you ever
notice that the fans of these mass events have individual contests for parking?
Capricorn on the 5th: (You have a Virgo rising.) Can fun ever be proved in advance? Some of you want this condition
before you will trust fun. Your friends and lovers are very distinct and separate. You have a hard time integrating your
pleasure life with your family life. I know you try, but the family is not interested in the bank your grandfather worked at.
On one Simpsons show the story of a school field trip had the school children, bored to tears are complaining: “not the
box factory again!” Capricorn is not interested in impulsive pleasure, but like all humans, they gravitate in a big way to
what they like, and they like the best. This fifth house will demand quality in sporting goods and lasting durability in lovers
as well. Preferring mature partners is something we older lovers very much appreciate.
Aquarius on the 5th: (You have Libra rising) Well, finally we get to the integration of friends and lovers. What a can of
worms you open by crossing those boundaries, but what a fabulous love life you can have. Because people are you
pleasure, and you have room for lots of them in you life. You stay busy with many projects at once. If the quality of your
painting suffers, you switch to hiking, or volleyball, or whatever the next invitation brings. You will never lack for
companions, but you begin to wonder how to make the people stay. Food for thought: maturity brings depth to
relationships or can reveal that they are inappropriate and need to go. Flush out the childhood fantasies, and keep
spreading the charm.
Pisces on the 5th: (You have Scorpio rising.) Most astrology books begin all Pisces entries with the phrase: You are a
dreamer. Well, here in the 5th house, we welcome dreams, fantasies and playacting. No one is more alluring and cute
than a person with Pisces placed here. You are a dream come true, because you mirror the other person’s desires. You
give them exactly what you think they want. They come to you. Your charm is hypnotic, and people later accuse you of
coercion. What happened? Later they say, “You don’t actually like bungee jumping, do you darling?” You complain that
your needs were not met, but you were trying to please someone else, not yourself. Don’t become confused in the hall of
mirrors.
Aries on the 5th: (You have a Sagittarius rising.) Here, we return to the rugged model of fun. Animalistic power and
speed, physical development and the like are the purview of the competitor. Is sex a sport? Perhaps you can make it so.
Your general approach to life is to pursue class as much as possible. Your superior attitude can bring lots of eager
competitors forward but don’t compete on a love matter with your mate. Be graceful and acknowledge the softer side of
life sometimes.
Taurus on the 5th: (You have a Capricorn rising.) To you, love is a tangible thing. You seek stability and predictability in
love. You often are the one offering the security, but don’t be fooled. It is a typical charge in relationships that we all offer
to do that which we want done for us. Taurus is a Goddess sign, so seek a self assured and financially solvent type of
mate to avoid financial problems. Emotional bonding is often difficult but addiction to pleasure is easy with Taurus on the
5th cusp. Be aware of your need to provide uplift and support for a lover. Is it compulsive?
Gemini on the 5th : (You have an Aquarius rising.) You are a people magnet. For you, the drawing room “comedy of
manners” is a lifelong pursuit. You like people, and you know plenty of them. You seem to spread yourself a little thin at
times. Over commitment can be a problem here, and the comedy comes in as the social schedules you float collide. Your
motivation is pure love of humanity. Getting your partner jealous is only a side benefit of your flirtatious nature.
Cancer on the 5th: (You have a Pisces rising.) You love for the deepest reasons, trust me. If a partner allows you to
mother them, you will be in heaven. The problems come as a natural result of your parental attitudes. Love and pleasure
should be a pure pursuit, not a burden to you as you try to take responsibility for the future development of anothe grown
adult. Antiques, books, theatre are favorite pursuits for pleasure. Tangible items are especially praised if they contain
value in the form of beauty and history. That goes for the partners that Cancer fifth house chooses. Like the Capricorn
fifth, they feel older can be better, a quality well appreciated by today’s population of baby boomers. You are as young
as you feel.
